Training of
PIOs, APIOs, NGOs and academic institutions on RTI Act, 2005 was held on August
30 at deputy commissioner’s Hall, Wokha.
The resource
persons for the training included associate professor, Mt. Tiyi College Wokha,
Dr. Zumomo Ovung, EAC Wokha, Tsutsowe Kupa and EAC Changpang, Bodi Kapfo.
According to
DIPR report, the training programme was sponsored by Ministry of Personnel and
Public Grievances and Pension, Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) New
Delhi. More than 90 participants from different departments, NGOs and
educational institutions took part in the one day training programme.

Wokha, Asalie Lese, while giving the inaugural address said that RTI was about
empowering the citizens and to promote transparency and accountability in the
working of every public authority and good governance.
He called
upon the participants to be sincere and try to get maximum benefit out of the
training.
The resource
persons dwelled on topics like general overview of RTI Act 2005 and concept of
RTI, obligation of public authorities, role of PIOs and APIOs, information
commission appeals and penalties, documentary videos and case studies.
