State government has constituted a string of
commissions to take cognizance of grievances and see to it that residents get
justice.
However pendency of cases with five major
commissions show that residents are not getting timely justice.
From information gathered about cases with five
major commissions, it emerged that MP State Women's Rights Commission tops the
chart in pendency of cases.
Other departments, which gave information were MP
State Commission for Protection of Child Rights, State Human Rights Commission,
State Child Rights Commission, State Minorities Commission and State Commission
for Backward Classes.
Going by records, 1,438 cases were registered at
state women rights commission in 2015-16, but there was no hearing in even one of them till date.
There are 11,000 cases pending with state
women's commission, going by figures of past 5 years.
In Human rights commission, 3,585 cases are pending and 335 cases are pending with the state child rights commission.
Roli Shivhare, a social activist from Vikas
Samvad, who filed an RTI to know number of cases pending with five commissions
till 2015-16 said, "I had asked
information related to five major commissions. It was sad to know not many
people got justice on time."
Shivhare added, "Every year crores of rupees
are provided to commissions.
Reply to RTI shows some departments are not prompt
in providing justice to the people."
She said, "Even in many cases information was
given after taking cognizance on basis of news reports, which shows that no
ground work was done."
From reply to RTI, it came out that the State
Commission for Protection of Child Rights has taken cognizance in 831 cases in the past seven years.
