In a
move to spread awareness on the Right to Information (RTI) Act, the principal
secretary, general administration, S.K. Sinha, on Friday launched a two-day
training programme on RTI for 230 lecturers from the city as part of “Educators
in RTI” programme.
The
programme was also attended by the chief information commissioner Jannat
Hussain, who spoke on the importance of the RTI Act in all walks of life. He
further said the commission under his purview, was ensuring that all possible
protection was accorded to the activists and information officers dispatched
the replies soon.
RTI
activist Ramakrishna Raju, whose organisation was facilitating the programme,
appreciated the government on the various steps it had talken to promote the
RTI Act. He added that the meeting was meant to educate students through
lecturers.
“10
lecturers from every district have been selected as and initial step” he said.
