The
governor's office on Wednesday sought two week's time to file its reply before
the state information commission regarding Raj Bhavan's applicability under the
Right to Information Act, even after the chief information commissioner
questioned whether Raj Bhavan was disputing the fact that it is a public
authority.
During the
hearing of the case, chief information commissioner Prashant Tendolkar asked
Deep Shirodkar representing the secretary to the governor, why so much time was
needed to file the reply.
Advocate
Aires Rodrigues who filed the complaint stated during the hearing that Raj
Bhavan was already in violation by not having appointed a public information
officer till date.
In his
complaint, he sought directions to the Raj Bhavan to appoint a public
information officer and make mandatory disclosures of working of the Goa Raj
Bhavan under the RTI.
The state
information commission on June 5 issued a notice to the secretary to the
governor asking for a reply to be filed in the matter.
