Assam Agriculture University VC miffed at ADSW for replying to RTI

Northeast Now: Guwahati: Sunday, June 10, 2018.
Expressing displeasure over issuing reply to an RTI application regarding College of Veterinary Science playground at Khanapara, Assam Agriculture University vice chancellor Dr KM Bujarbaruah on Saturday said that the Associate Director of Students’ Welfare (ADSW) of the university has no authority to reply to RTI applications.
“ADSW Ranjeet Neog is not authorised to reply to RTI applications. The PIO of the university is the sole authorised official who can provide RTI reply regarding any issues relating to the university,” Bujarbaruah told Northeast Now over phone from New Delhi.
Ranjeet Neog, ADSW of the AAU, in a reply to an RTI application held the BJP and Kamrup (Metro) district administration responsible for destruction of the playground belonging to College of Veterinary Science.
Regarding the alleged destruction of the playground, Bujarbaruah said that he would discuss the issue with the Dean of the university’s Guwahati campus.
The Vice Chancellor further said that ADSW Ranjeet Neog’s comment on the news carried by Northeast Now is personal. “The comment made by the ADSW is not an official statement of the AAU,” he said.
Reacting to the report carried by Northeast Now on the College of Veterinary Science playground, ADSW Ranjeet Neog in a Facebook comment said, “In contrary to the very caption of the article ‘Assam Agricultural University accuses BJP of destroying the finest playground in Assam’ in the RTI reply, only facts were submitted and no one was accused.”
“The AAU authority was never averse to holding of some prestigious meetings of national importance at the Multipurpose Sports Complex CVSc. Khanapara. Rather, the AAU or Veterinary College authority always feels proud of it. It is also not of good taste to publish selected segments of the RTI reply in the news portal to mislead people as well as the respected District Administration and the esteem political party,”he said.
