CBSE cannot avoid answering to RTI application: Delhi HC

India Legal: New Delhi: Tuesday, August 01, 2017.
The Delhi High Court on Monday (July 31) ruled that the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) does fall under the Right to Information Act, especially vis-à-vis regarding reevaluated answer sheets.
The bench of Acting Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice C Hari Shankar was hearing a case pertaining to the June 30 CBSE notification where they limited the reevaluation or re-verification to 10 questions and in 12 subjects only. The CBSE had also excluded four humanities subjects from the reevaluation process.
The bench observed that the CBSE had no valid reason to avoid revaluated answer sheets to come under the ambit of RTI. However, the bench still gave the board a week to submit its reply.
