After getting
various complaints about not getting food grains from the public distribution
shops, the district supply officer today issued an order to all tehsildars to
inspect the government warehouses in the district and to submit their report.
Though the
Food Security Act makes provision of supplying food grains to the people, it
has not been implemented positively in the district and still many
beneficiaries could not get the food grains as promised from the shops.
Forwarding a
reason that the product was not given to them by the government, the
shop-keepers refuse to grant the prescribed food grains to the beneficiaries.
On a
complaint lodged by an activist of the Right to Information (RTI) Motiram Kale,
the district supply officer issued order to the tehsildars to inspect all 23
government warehouses and to get the matter clear about the stock available.
If the
figures about allotment and distribution of food grains do not match, action
will likely be taken against the guilty persons.UNI
