An RTI has
been filed in the Cabinet Secretariat seeking the name and information of the
person to be appointed as the new Advocate General of Manipur.
Sources said
the RTI sought details of the proposed Advocate General of the State, if any,
as it is not clear whether the State Government has filled up the post of
Advocate General, which was lying vacant after the formation of the BJP-led
coalition Government in the State.
Mention may
be made that High Court Bar Association Manipur, and All Manipur Bar
Association had staged protests against the proposed appointment of a non-local
as the Advocate General of the State.
The State
Government has not yet issued any official notification of the appointment of
the Constitutional post.
