DLSA, SAKHI conduct legal awareness prog.

Dimapur District Legal Services Authority (DDLSA) in collaboration with SAKHI-One Stop Centre (OSC) conducted one-day legal awareness programme with Lotha Eloe Ekhung, Dimapur on April 29 at Lotha Hoho-Ki, Dimapur. 
Delivering the keynote address, principal district and session judge and chairman, DDLSA, GH Ramlia, spoke on the importance of creating such awareness programme especially for the marginalized section of the society. 
While talking on gender equality, Ramlia said women play an important role in the society, which was why women needed to know their rights. 
Case worker, SAKHI-OSC, Bovili K Chishi, spoke on the role and functions of OSC. She appraised that the centre take care of physical and psychological well being of women who were victims of various kinds of violence. 
Speaking on anti-human trafficking/ NALSA schemes, panel lawyer DDLSA, Moatila Ao, informed that the primary objective of the victims of trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation scheme, 2015 was to provide legal assistance against trafficking and sexual exploitation and the scheme covered children, adolescent girls and women of all ages. 
She also said that the scheme sought to provide an action plan to prevent sexual exploitation of these individuals while ensuring rescue and rehabilitation of the victims of trafficking and voluntary sex workers. 
Panel lawyers from the DDLSA, Zuchumbeni, Moatila Ao, Dzuvino Chadi, Rokovitsu and Zacharia Tetseo spoke on topics such as women right/domestic violence act, consumer protection act, RTI and Lok Adalat/welfare schemes for women respectively. 
Ajongba Imchen, CJM and secretary, DDLSA, during interaction session clarified queries raised by the participants. Earlier, welcome address was delivered by president Lotha Eloe Ekhung, Dimapur, Sungsabeni, while panel lawyer, Sentimenla chaired the programme.
