Now, the
Personal Information Officer (PIO) at Raj Bhavan has been issued summons by the
Karnataka Information Commission for not furnishing information sought by an
applicant under Right to Information Act, even after a year.
The
application was filed by CS Shastri from Puttur on August 8, 2013 under RTI asking
for the details such as heads, duties, date of commencement of functioning,
date of submission of report, total expenses incurred, action of the government
under the report of various commissions formed by Government of Karnataka.
Shastri said
even the highest office in the state was neglecting queries under RTI as the
KIC was not punitive enough and was letting go officials with a slight rap.
The KIC
summons directs PIO to be present at the Court Hall 2 on November 25 at 11am.
The order stated either the respondent should appear in person and should send
a representative producing documents on action taken on RTI. "In case the
respondent fails to appear the matter would be decided ex parte," the
order stated.
